Slovak government scholarships have always been a part of Official Development Assistance to Slovakia, which in itself is a program and project activity of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs within the international community. The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic will implement bilateral development cooperation through the Government Grants Program as defined in the Medium-Term Development Cooperation Strategy of the Slovak Republic for the period 2019-2023 (Government Decision No. 40 of 2019).
Through this decision, the Slovak government offers fully-funded scholarships to study the Slovak language and to enroll in one of the master’s or doctoral programs at one of the Slovakian universities included in the scholarship. These grants are provided for a considerable number of academic majors in public universities, and the language of instruction in this grant is exclusively in the Slovak language, and it is not possible to enroll in programs taught in other languages

In the event of a significant change in the living standards in Slovakia, it is possible to adjust the amount of monthly scholarship in the form of valorization in accordance with the financial possibilities.
Government Scholarships are provided for a specific period of time. In exceptional cases, the Commission of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the SR may pass decisions regarding changes of this period. The Commission shall assess the reasons stated by the applicant in the written application and credibly confirmed by required documentation. Such decisions are final and may not be appealed. A scholarship that is revoked due to poor academic performance will not be provided to another applicant.
Scholarship required documents
- a record of the highest level of education attained,
- a completion certificate from a secondary school if attached to an application for language education for studies in a first-level academic program or an academic program combining the first and second-levels or studies in such an academic program; otherwise, a transcript of university studies is required,
- an acceptance letter if attached to an application for studies at university,
- birth certificate,
- a photograph measuring 3.5 cm x 4 cm showing the person’s full face, with no glasses with dark lenses, with the face height from the eyes to the chin of at least 13 mm; minimum resolution of 350 x 400 pixels is required for digital images,
- A copy of the pages of a passport (travel document) containing the personal details of the holder.

- from two educational staff members of the secondary school issuing the completion certificate under letter b) above if attached to an application for language education for studies in a first-level academic program or an academic program combining the first and second-levels or studies in such an academic
program, or - from two university instructors from the university issuing the transcript under letter b) above if attached to an application for language education for studies in a second-level academic program or a third-level academic program or studies in such an academic program,
- from two educational staff members of the secondary school issuing the completion certificate under letter b) above if attached to an application for language education for studies in a first-level academic program or an academic program combining the first and second-levels or studies in such an academic
- a signed curriculum vitae,
- bibliographical details of publication activities in the scope of the name, author and publisher details with respect to language education for studies in a third-level academic program or studies in such an academic program,
- a copy of the pages of a passport (travel document) containing the personal details of the holder
Application Procedures for Fully funded Slovak government scholarships 2022
If you have not got your account and log in information you have to register. Click at the home page on Registration and complete the registration form according assigned instructions, confirm by clicking on Register.
After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and a password which you need to log in to your account.
Please fill in the application according to the instructions. Compulsory attachments must be added to the application. In the event that any of compulsory attachments will not be attached to the application the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the SR will not accept this application and at the same time it will be automatically disqualified from the process of nomination for study.
Once you finish with filling the online application form, go to section 1. Applications in your account, download PDF file named “Document”, print the last page of it “Confirmation”, sign it and attach the scan of it as “Signed application”.
Scholarship Deadlines
The Slovak Government Scholarship is an annual scholarship and the deadline for applying is the 30th of May each academic year.
Notice of student acceptance or non-acceptance of the government scholarship is sent by the Ministry electronically using the email address provided by each applicant by July 15.
