2022 MOGFORD short story competition with £10,000 prize

The call for application for the MOGFORD short story competition 2022 is now open. The Mogford Prize is an international award for short stories that have food and/or drink at their heart. As such, they are only interested in short fiction that places food and/or drink at the centre of the narrative.

MOGFORD short story competition 2022 Details

The story could, for example, be about a food-related crime or intrigue; a chance meeting over a drink; a life-changing conversation over dinner; or perhaps the details of a relationship explored through food. While there are no restrictions on genre, they are looking for fiction that can be enjoyed by guests in The Oxford Collection.

All entries must be made via our online submissions form as a .doc or .docx file. All submitted stories (no poems or scripts) must have food and/or drink at the centre of the narrative.

Stories may have a maximum of 2,500 words not including the title and should not have been previously published anywhere (this includes self-publication, publication on websites, blogs and online forums as well as broadcast via TV, radio or podcast).

Display the word count on the first page of the document. All stories should be in English and the sole work on the entrant.

The prize is open to writers (published or unpublished) anywhere in the world aged 18 years or older by the closing date of the competition.
