Trinity College Philosophy Essay Competition with £1000 cash prizes

Trinity College Philosophy Essay Competition aims to encourage able sixth formers to pursue their interest in Philosophy, with the hope that they will be encouraged to read this or related subjects at University.

Trinity Philosophy Essay Competition 2023 Details

The questions for the 2023 essay competition are as follows:

  • There is progress in science. Is there progress in philosophy, and is the field only successful if there is?
  • Can we love someone more than ourselves, and what does this imply about the human condition?

You should answer one question only.

Who can enter the competition?

This essay competition is open to Year 12 or Lower 6th students.

Essay Competition Entry fee

The essay competition is free to enter.

Trinity Philosophy Essay Competition 2023 Prizes

The competition carries a First Prize of £600 and a Second Prize of £400, to be split equally between the candidate and his or her school or college; the school or college’s portion of the prize to be issued in the form of book tokens.

Essay Competition Application Guide

Candidates are invited to submit an essay of up to 2,000 words.  Entries must be submitted online by the end of May using the form following this link
